'Numb3rs,' 'Medium,' 'Ghost Whisperer' give CBS biggest numbers

CBS won Friday night in total viewers and in the 18-to-49 age group. But the low viewing levels weren't a reason for celebration.

CBS averaged 7.8 million viewers in prime time, a weak number for the second Friday of a new television season. But that average was better than these: NBC with 6.6 million, ABC with 4.6 million, Fox with 2.2 million and The CW with 1.7 million.

NBC edged Disney-owned ABC for second in the 18-to-49 age group.
CBS was the leader in every time slot in viewers: "Ghost Whisperer" with 7.6 million, "Medium" with 7.8 million and "Numb3rs" with 7.9 million.
NBC placed second at 8 with "Law & Order" (6.8 million) and at 9 with "Dateline" (7.7 million), according to updated ratings released Monday afternoon.

At 10, ABC's "20/20" pulled in 6.5 million and ran second to "Numb3rs." But "20/20" was the bigger draw in the 18-to-49 age group. NBC's "The Jay Leno Show" drew 5.3 million.

ABC showed reruns at 8 and 9: "FlashForward" with 3.5 million and "The Forgotten" with 3.9 million.

The numbers were better than the new fare on Fox: "Brothers" with 2.3 million, "'Til Death" with 2.2 million and "Dollhouse" with 2.1 million. The CW offered "Smallville" (2.2 million) and a repeat of "America's Next Top Model" (1.2 million).

Screen Grabs: Palm Pre stumps the experts on Numb3rs

The Palm Pre showed up on a recent episode of Numb3rs, and we can only assume that confused look on Charlie's face is the simplistic calculator that ships stock with webOS. Or could it be something much more sinister?
